Step into the urban fantasy worlds of Author Kasey Mackenzie…

Hello, fellow bookworms and fantasy lovers! Or so I assume since you’ve wandered into my little corner of the Internet. Where human Phoenixes are reborn in fire, learn how to kick magical butt, and find love with the sexy human Dragons of their dreams. Where strong untrained witches get free-ride scholarships to academies that may kill them before they ever get close to graduating. Where wicked Witch Queens keep trophy rooms full of beating hearts and cast dark curses. Where shapeshifting Furies police the streets of Boston to keep supernaturals in check when they’re not fighting lingering emotions for Warhound ex-lovers. Where fiery psychics with out-of-control powers tangle with fallen angels seeking redemption who they are most definitely not supposed to fall in love with.

And that’s just the start of the twists and turns with magic that burns!

I got bitten by the literary bug at the tender age of three when I first learned how to read and it’s been a passionate affair ever since. I wrote my first poem in the third grade–featuring such awe-inspiring prose as “It’s Christmas time, Don’t you know? It’s Christmas time, Where’s the snow?” and won a contest where it appeared in print (the school newspaper TOTALLY counts!)–and publishing became my dearest childhood wish. My family was super supportive of that ambitious dream and pretended not to be shocked when I actually made it come true!

When I wasn’t writing award-winning poetry in third grade or reading everything I could get my hands on (including cereal boxes from age three and my mother’s Harlequin romances starting in the fourth grade), I was writing boy band fan fiction featuring my favorite NKOTB Jonathan Knight falling madly in love with me. My love affair with fantasy books began with Susan Cooper’s The Dark is Rising Sequence and Mercedes Lackey’s Last Herald Mage and Heralds of Valdemar series in my pre-teen and teen years. When I read Mercedes Lackey’s Diana Tregarde books and had my first real taste of urban fantasy, I was even more hooked!

(We haven’t even touched all the fantasy and science fiction movies I loved starting in childhood…I don’t want this little intro to turn into an actual book…)

Some of my favorite urban fantasy and paranormal romance authors include Kelley Armstrong, Kim Harrison, Karen Chance, Kresley Cole, Yasmine Galenorn, Hailey Edwards, Dannika Dark, Jeaniene Frost, Ilona Andrews, Linsey Hall, Jaymin Eve, Chloe Neil, Nalini Singh, Jennifer Estep, L. L. McKinney, Seressia Glass, Patricia Briggs, Laurell K. Hamilton, and Jim Butcher just to name a VERY few. There are SO many great authors in this genre that I couldn’t even begin to name all the ones I love.

If you love urban fantasy and paranormal romance as much as I do, maybe we can be friends! Feel free to like my author page on Facebook, join my Phoenix on the Rise Facebook Group, and sign up for my newsletter. Especially if you like free stuff! My geeky urban fantasy-loving self will be sharing all kinds of free and discounted books (by other authors as well as me) and sharing gratuitous pictures of my Evil Shoulder Kitty and La Pup Nikita. I would love to have you join in the book bonding fun. The more the merrier!
